three seed biscuit squares recipe

Ingredients : 
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup whole wheat flour or white whole wheat flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup tub-style vegetable oil spread, chilled
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup plus 1 tablespoon fat-free milk
- 1 egg white, beaten
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
- Low-sugar orange marmalade or low-sugar fruit spread (optional)

Preparation Method :
1) Preheat oven to 450°F. In a medium bowl stir together flours, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Using a pastry blender, cut in vegetable oil spread and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add milk all at once; stir just until dough clings together.

2) Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead by folding and gently pressing dough for four to six strokes or until nearly smooth. Pat or lightly roll dough into a 7×7-inch square. Brush with egg white and sprinkle dough with sesame seeds, cumin seeds, and poppy seeds. Press seeds in lightly with your fingers.

3) Cut dough into nine squares. Place squares 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm. If desired, serve with marmalade or fruit spread.
