brat and caramelized onion pizza recipe

MAKES: 1 PIZZA; SERVES 8

Ingredients : 
- 1½ tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- ½ onion, finely sliced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 uncooked bratwursts (see note)
- 1 premade thin pizza crust
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

Preparation Method :
1) Preheat the oven to 400°F.

2) In a medium skillet over high heat, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter and then add the onion and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 13 to 15 minutes, or until the onion is caramelized (reduce the heat if it starts to brown).

3) In a small skillet, melt the remaining ½ tablespoon of butter and add the brats. Cook for 5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 5 minutes. Remove from the pan and cut each brat into little pieces (I just cut them in the pan).

4) Lay the pizza crust on a pizza baking sheet and arrange the cheese on top of the crust.

5) Sprinkle the cooked brat slices and caramelized onion over the cheese and then bake for 14 minutes.

6) Remove from the oven, allow to cool for a few minutes, then slice and enjoy.

NOTE :

You can use any kind of brats. I like to buy “beer brats,” which are made with real beer.
